City Centre Resource Churches

Cities are particularly in need of larger city centre churches that fulfil a resourcing role. Typically, such a resource church will be drawing people from across all or part of the city and will have a vision to see a wide impact around the city and the practical abilities to make that happen.

Even the biggest city churches cannot reach the city on their own, but they can release their capacity to energise a city vision that many other churches can get behind. City centre resource churches can do this by supporting their bishops, planting churches, releasing specialist resources, sending teams and developing leaders.

What is a Resource Church?

A resource church is a church-planting church which resources other forms of mission across a city or town. Resource churches are:

  • designated a resource church by the diocesan bishop
  • part of a diocesan strategy to evangelise a city or town and transform society
  • intentionally resourced to plant and revitalise churches
  • developing a pipeline of leaders for further planting
  • providing other resources for mission across a city or town
